Indian Start-Up Innovation Camp 2019

16 unique start-ups shortlisted to be the finalists at WTFL’s Indian Startup Innovation Camp 2019

  • In association with IHCL and Tata Trusts, WTFL commits to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the sector

  • Sixteen finalists to reach next level of evaluation; four each in respective categories -culture, commerce, community and conservation

  • Innovation Camp 2019 to give wings to the innovative startups and support them to adopt sustainable development approach

New Delhi, 29th November, 2019: After attaining a successful stature at global level, World Tourism Forum Lucerne (WTFL) is making its debut in India this year with first-of-its-kind competition – Indian Startup Innovation Camp 2019. Over 200 startups focusing on culture, community, conservation and commerce in the field of travel, tourism and hospitality from the Indian subcontinent applied for the competition.

After rigorous evaluation of these startups, WTFL today shortlisted 16 finalists for the final round of selection and the winners will be announced during the event finale on December 18th in Bengaluru. One winner under each category will take home USD 10,000 each along with a personalized two-year mentoring by industry experts.

The globally renowned platform that provides world’s leading tourism, travel and hospitality leaders along with innovators to meet and shape a more sustainable future. For the past 10 years, WTFL has given an exclusive ground to the budding businessmen by nurturing their innovations in this sector. With this platform, our country will brace up to revive Brand India with the help of 5 Ts: Tradition, Talent, Tourism, Trade and Technology.

While congratulating the top 16 finalists on reaching the finale round, Martin Barth, President and CEO, World Tourism Forum Lucerne said, “We are overwhelmed to experience truly innovative and game changing ideas of 200 startups that participated. Also, we are happy that we choose India this year as it gave us an opportunity to come across intelligent minds. India has a niche product portfolio in travel and tourism sector and is expected to grow at a rate of 100% by 2028. We are sure to make a mark and create awareness around the on-going environmental issues and look forward to holding more such engaging events in India in the coming years.”

In 2017, Global Himalayan Expedition became the first Indian start-up to have won the prestigious WTFL competition. Here is the list of the finalists announced:

Category Culture:

  • Augtraveler, Delhi - Augtraveler is a culture & heritage travel tech platform offering AR based immersive & personalized visitor experiences. It extends to offer cultural trails, which facilitate sustainable livelihoods of local communities.

  • NotOnMap, Chamba - NotOnMap is platform that connects travellers to culturally rich remote villages after restoring houses,training community members thereby creating alternative livelihood for villagers & minimizing unskilled migration.

  • Authenticook, Mumbai - An online marketplace connecting travelers and locals over authentic, unique and immersive food experiences led by verified local hosts.

  • WildTrails, Bangalore - An AI-powered marketplace for connecting travellers to wildlife tourism destinations by providing a historical & a predictable sighting index for spotting wildlife using data-driven intelligence.

Category Commerce:

  • CabDost, Bangalore - Cab Dost is a social enterprise that was started to ensure that taxi drivers secure a financial future by providing them with expert advisory services related to tax planning and other services.

  • Camp Monk, Bangalore - Camp Monk is the AirBnB of campgrounds, caravan parks and ecostays in India.

  • MeTrippling, Bangalore - The new tech stack for travel --- infusing intelligence into every aspect of the travel decision making process by making sense of the world's data and providing contextual inspiration & intelligent dynamic packaging.

  • OutsiteVR, New Delhi - OutsiteVR is a VR experiential travel platform, enabling travel enthusiasts to travel the whole world by eliminating physical & financial boundaries.

Category Community:

  • F5 Escapes, Bangalore - F5 Escapes is an experiential travel company with a vision to redefine women travel in India through education-empowerment-engagement.

  • Kaarwan Edutravel, Thane - Kaarwan organises educational travel workshops for participants, selected on the basis of an application, to explore & promote traditional practices and revive indigenous skills.

  • Planet Abled, Delhi - Planet Abled provides accessible and inclusive travel solutions for people of all disabilities. Giving them the complete freedom to travel just like anyone else.

  • Rural Odyssey, Gurgaon - Rural Odyssey is a social enterprise that aims at promoting responsible tourism as an additional livelihood for rural communities while providing unique experiences to travellers.

Category Conservation:

  • Lootel, Indore - Lootel is an IOT based always clean complete self-sustainable solution of a public restroom cafe.

  • Ecowrap, Jaipur - Block-chain & IoT based waste management cum supply chain for HORECA.

  • Padcare Labs, Pune - PadCare Labs is providing safe, accessible & eco-friendly sanitary napkin disposal and recycling unit to serve women through institutional organization by using patent 5D technology which is instant,odorless in operation.

  • Quick Ride, Bangalore - Quick Ride is a real-time ride sharing app which connects the daily commuters. It makes everyone's commute economical, eco-friendly, social, safe and convenient.
